Microbiologic Evaluation of Spacer Materials
Quintessence International published Dr. Wadhwani's latest study conducted with the purpose of microbiologically evaluating the ef cacy of cotton and polytetra uoroethylene (PTFE) tape used as spacer materials. Even under optimal conditions, cotton spacers were found to cause leakage into the access cavities. Cotton may serve as a route for bacterial contamination of the access cavities and root canal space. In contrast, PTFE tape did not provide an avenue for bacterial contamination.
